R. Patrick Clayton, PhD

Patrick has over a decade of experience in clinical research, trials, and biotechnology development. He earned his PhD at The University of Texas Medical Branch and Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston, TX, before moving into the biotech and early commercialization sectors. After completing his doctoral degree, Patrick shifted his focus from research to the intersection of business and science. He spent several years with MD Anderson Cancer Center's Technology Commercialization group before transitioning to industry roles in business development, working with both therapeutic and molecular diagnostic companies. Currently, Patrick supports the life sciences industry as a member of J.P. Morgan’s Innovation Economy team, collaborating with life science and healthcare startup companies. He is passionate about supporting founders in their pursuit of building successful companies and fostering strong entrepreneurial ecosystems across Texas. |
