Atul Varadhachary, MD, PhD

Dr. Atul Varadhachary is Managing Partner at Fannin, a leading early-stage life sciences group, with multiple programs and spinouts at various stages of development ranging from commercial to discovery.
Previously, Atul has served as President & COO of Agennix, Inc. for nine years, where he helped advance the company’s lead molecule from preclinical studies to pivotal Phase 3 trials and facilitated its successful sale. His career also includes roles as President of U.S. Operations at Reliance Life Sciences, and as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co.
Atul has held Adjunct Professor appointments at Rice University, the Baylor College of Medicine and the University Texas. His current company board memberships include Radiomer, Pulmotect, Allterum, Brevitest, RDG, and Goldenrod. He has also served on non-profit boards including BioHouston, Harris Health System, and Every Texan, and held leadership roles at TiE Houston and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH). He has held advisory roles in organizations including ACS, BIO, CPRIT, GHP, MDACC, Rice, TCH, UH, and UT.
Atul received his medical training at the University of Bombay and holds a PhD in Physiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Biological Chemistry at Johns Hopkins, where he was founding President of the Johns Hopkins Postdoctoral Association, the first such organization in the country.
